DAY OF LIFE 14

Well...today was a big day because one "answer" came back on some of the blood work that was done..

I do have pneumonia AND Pseudomonas. 

It's bad enough to have pneumonia, BUT Pesudomonas is a very scary thing to have. No one knows "where" or exactly "how" I got it.  There are a lot of places it can be found, but one of the most common places is in the hospital - it's a common hospital acquired infection. The offending bacteria is Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The bacteria is frequently found in environment but only attacks weakened hosts. It can live on nearly all kinds of surfaces and can attach itself to medical equipment and lines.

Since I am premature, I was already a high "risk" for contracting it.

This is a pretty tough thing so they have to treat it with tough antibiotics.  I am now on Vancomycin, Gentamicin & Zosyn.

Since they have taken so much blood from me, I really need some blood. So I am also getting a blood transfusion today.

My mommy and daddy were worried about this, but just "looking" at me, they can tell I don't feel well at all.

I am still on the breathing machine and they are sedating me to help me.
