DAY OF LIFE 12

Today was "THE" hardest day yet.

It was super scary.  My night was really rocky. 

I was refluxing and I just didn't feel good at all.  In order to help me with this my "reflux" they put ANOTHER tube into me called a "Replogle" tube.  It's sort of like a little "vacuum" tube that will intermittently "suck" out the contents of my stomach.  They wanted to do this so this little tube "sucked" out my "reflux" and I didn't have it coming out my nose and mouth - because they had to "intubate" me.

I started to stool quite a bit of blood and this concerned them a lot, so they ran tests to see if I had a condition called NEC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrotizing_enterocolitis) which I DON'T....THANK GOODNESS..THIS IS A VERY SCARY THING AND I DON'T HAVE IT!!!

They ran tests on me and found another infection.  My CRP was 37..YIKES.  That means that my body is really infected with something bad, but they didn't know "what."  (SIDE NOTE: Normal CRP's are less than 1.  A "CRP" is a C-Reactive Protein.  It's a way of detecting "inflammation" in the body. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-reactive_protein

I was just so tired from all of this refluxing and so I just couldn't breath anymore by myself. It's pretty typical in "preemies" to "forget" to breathe and I was just so tired, so I was forgetting to breathe.  They started me back on "caffeine" to help with this. 

BUT...they had to put me on a breathing machine (intubate me.)

They think I may have a lung infection, because they did a chest x-ray of me and my lungs are really "cloudy" which tells them that they have "fluid" in them.  Their "theory" is that I "aspirated" into my lungs while I was "refluxing."

They are running tests on the fluid "stuff" that they "suction" out of me while I am "intubated" to see "what" is going on. 

I am in a lot of pain but I am lethargic and very pale.

I have to be fed "IV" fluids called TPN.

My mommy and daddy are very scared because there is a lot of stuff going on that no one can predict and they don't understand why.

My brother and sister are able to come see me tonight and I know it's scary for them too.

I have a lot of people praying for me and I am very thankful for them and all the dedicated medical professionals that are trying to help me.
